What is GeM ?
GeM, launched in 2016, replaced DGS&D as a contactless, paperless, and cashless online marketplace. It has enhanced public procurement through transparency, inclusion, usability, and efficiency, achieving average savings of 9.75%, as per the World Bank. Sellers must now display the ‘country of origin’ for products listed on the portal.
